I took this photograph on my November holidays, inside what is considered the most historically significant chapel in California, which is also the oldest operating church in the State.
The Serra Chapel was named in Father Serra’s honor, who founded nine missions in California. He celebrated mass in the San Juan Capistrano Mission’s adobe church when it was newly built in 1783, just a year before he died.

El Presidio SHP, which is located in downtown Santa Barbara, California, is a 5.75 acre park (four city blocks) that preserves the site of the last Spanish fortress, or presidio, founded in Alta (Upper) California in 1782.
Two of the fort‘s original adobe buildings still exist and are open to the public: El Cuartel and the Cañedo Adobe.
