Twinkle of Votive Candles

I took this photograph on my November holidays, inside what is considered the most historically significant chapel in California, which is also the oldest operating church in the State.

The Serra Chapel was named in Father Serra’s honor, who founded nine missions in California. He celebrated mass in the San Juan Capistrano Mission’s adobe church when it was newly built in 1783, just a year before he died.

  1. Beautiful! I love to visit churches, especially old churches. Some of the churches in D.C. are beautiful. One of them is an architectural wonder…built like old cathedrals-not one steel beam.
