Ancient Golden Laurel Wreath

San Antonio Museum of Art. Greek and Roman collections.

San Antonio Museum of Art.

The San Antonio Museum of Art is an amazing museum with a great variety of collections. It houses one of the largest and most comprehensive collections of ancient Egyptian, Near Eastern, Greek and Roman art in the southern United States.

I have seen the laurel wreath in a lot of movies, so looking at this original golden laurel wreath at the Greek and Roman collections in the Art of the Ancient Mediterranean World exhibition area was very exciting. I didn’t imagine the delicacy of the leaves, it’s like a very thin gold paper, so fragile that I imagine it could tear very easily.

I wondered who used this one.
