Undulate

Mexico City Downtown

An eagle undulating through the air, devouring a serpent on top of a prickly pear,
nestled between the colors of hope, unity, and the sheded blood to reach sovereignity.
Meanwhile, people walks through downtown streets,
ignoring the recurring image of our homeland.

Overcast Sky

Santa Barbara, California
Santa Barbara, California

I gaze through the window

a sky crying profusely over earth

which makes me remember fondly

how we hold hands in the dark

on a previous rainy day

at the day of our date

Mask of Río Congo

Museo Nacional de Antropología, Mexico City.
Museo Nacional de Antropología, Mexico City.

I saw this interesting mask at the exhibition “Congo River, Arts of Central Africa” that took place at the National Museum of Anthropology, in Mexico City.

Can you see a heart shape in this mask? That form was characteristic in various masks at the exhibition, which belong to the XIX and XX century.

The masks used by African cultures settled along the river Congo refer to ancestral spirits, and they were used for initiation, funeral and fertility rituals accompanied by songs, music and dance.

The white color of the mask represents death.

Window Garden

Window gardenMy “window garden” makes my heart dance with joy.

It is mainly composed by succulents and cactacea plants, with the exception of the grass pot that you can see. On the other side of the window I have some other mini plants. Although I haven’t filled all of my window edge, that is my idea.

Planting a seed and see it grow is something that also makes me really happy.

Serenity

Foz do Iguaçu Waterfalls
Foz do Iguaçu National Park, Brazil.

Serenity is what I felt by watching, hearing and feeling over my face the water mist of Foz de Iguazu waterfalls, while I was standing under a blue sky with soft clouds and a rainbow near the water.

Natural Textures

The of photo of the left is about the texture of a travertine stone from Bagni di Tivoli, Italy, which also contains the texture of beautiful fossils of plants. I took the photo at the Getty Center in Los Angeles, California. It was used 1.2 million square feet of travertine to construct the Getty Center, and many of these stones revealed fossilized leaves, feathers, and branches when they were split along their natural grain.

The second photo is a tree that I photographed at one of my favorite places in Mexico City, Chapultepec forest, where I love to take promenades surrounded by nature.

If you want to know about or take another look at Chapultepec forest or its textures, click on the links, or to view some beautiful art that belongs to the Getty Center, search for “Getty” below (click on the + symbol to open the menu for the Search button)
